Now, the data mine should still be considered circumstantial evidence at best, given that Rockstar Games has not given any indication that the game will expand to other platforms.
More evidence revealed include code names that are found in the PC version of GTA V as well as a line of code convincingly titled “CommandIsPcVersion(void) 000000000166A12C”.
Embedded within the code of the app are several file names that seem to suggest an incoming PC version of Red Dead Redemption, with titles like “PARAM_Oculus” and PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpPC”. According to Rockstar Intel, a data miner by the name of BlackScout has uncovered the files of said app, and the results are optimistic. Released alongside Rockstar’s new flagship title is a mobile companion app that allows a secondary screen for better accessibility when playing the game. But now, fan site Rockstar Intel may have found a glimmering light at the end of the tunnel. Eight years later, the call for its successor’s release on Windows PC has not died down. The skies alone seem to have essentially re-written what the heavens in a video game can be capable of, and that doesn't even say anything about the minuscule detail you might see in a gun handle engraving or a simple box of oatcakes.The first Red Dead Redemption was considered one of the best games to be released in the Xbox 360 and PS3 era, but was just as well known for its developer’s stubbornness in skipping the PC platform. It's just sort of a fact: those rolling western vistas punctuated by dramatic rock formations have no equal in gaming, and likely won't for years. It doesn't feel like an exaggeration to say that: it is a staggering artistic and technical achievement that has delivered a jaw-dropping game world that amazes at every corner. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most beautiful game I've ever played. And by doing so it means you can take the HUD completely off of the screen: this is a very good thing to do. But the real benefit is the way that it can essentially display all the basic HUD information you need for moment-to-moment gameplay: various meters, map and the like. Rockstar's companion app here is pretty basic stuff: you can look at the map, browse a catalogue, even pay a little extra to see the official strategy guide.
